Photographer David Hiser will share his 1993 work with the Penan hunter-gathers in the deep forests of Borneo. Published in the book, Nomads of the Dawn, it was part of the last comprehensive documentation of their unique society before it began to yield to outside influences.  Nomads of the Dawn shows a lifestyle once lived by all mankind, which is now almost gone from the face of the earth.

Hiser is an editorial photographer and photo educator, whose work has been published in over 100 National Geographic books and magazines, as well as many other international publications.

He has done stories of the Aztec, Mayan and Tarahumara cultures in Mexico, the island peoples of Micronesia, and the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic.  Hiser’s work is outdoor-oriented, involving mountain climbing, desert travel and diving.

His work is represented by Getty Images, Still Media and the National Geographic Image Collection. He lives with his wife in Colorado.
